Something worth knowing — the ACCC recently issued a penalty to an NDIS provider over an ad that told parents and caregivers their services were covered simply because they had NDIS funding. The ad was found to be misleading, and the company paid a penalty as a result.
It matters because that kind of language is everywhere. “If you have NDIS funding, it’s covered” sounds reassuring. But NDIS funding works differently — what’s considered reasonable and necessary is decided individually, based on each participant’s goals and plan. No provider can make that call on the NDIA’s behalf.
At Care For Welfare, we don’t tell families what their plan will or won’t fund. What we do is take the time — genuinely — to understand what a child or adult is working toward, and make sure the support we’re providing is connected to those goals. When the same therapist shows up every session, in the same home or classroom, that consistency makes it easier to track what’s actually helping and why.
If you’re ever unsure whether a service is right for your plan, your support coordinator or plan manager is the right person to ask — not the provider trying to sell you something.
General information only. Not personal advice. Speak with your NDIS planner, support coordinator, or allied health provider for advice specific to your situation.
Have you ever been told something was “covered” by NDIS and later found out it was more complicated than that?
