The NDIS Amendment Bill passed the Senate this week, after months of negotiation and no small amount of political noise. For families following the news, it can be hard to know what any of it means for the day-to-day reality of accessing supports.
At Care For Welfare, we want to be honest about what we know and what we don’t. The legislation is described by the Government as making the scheme safer, clearer and more sustainable. What that means in practice — for individual plans, for how supports are determined, for families already mid-review — will become clearer as the NDIA publishes guidance. We’ll keep watching and sharing what’s relevant.
What hasn’t changed is what good therapy looks like. Our therapist still shows up to the same homes, the same schools, the same community spaces — working alongside children and adults on the goals that matter to them. Legislation changes the framework. It doesn’t change the relationship between a child learning to hold a pencil and the person sitting beside them helping them figure it out.
If you have questions about how recent NDIS changes might affect your supports, your support coordinator or NDIS planner is the right starting point. This post is general information only — not personal advice.
