There is a lot moving in the NDIS space right now, and at Care For Welfare we want to be honest with the families and carers who follow this page: some of it matters more than people realise.
Eligibility reassessments are coming. Under proposed changes to the NDIS Act, participants will need to re-demonstrate their eligibility for the scheme — something that has historically happened rarely, but may soon become routine. For some families, this will be straightforward. For others, particularly those who have been in the scheme for years without needing to re-document their support needs, it may feel daunting.
This is exactly where consistent, ongoing therapeutic relationships matter. Our therapist works with the same participants over time — not as a rotating face, but as someone who knows how a child functions across a school morning, or how an adult manages their daily routine at home. That continuity means documentation reflects lived reality, not a snapshot from a single session.
At the same time, occupational therapists across Australia are being asked to share how NDIS changes are affecting the people they support. That advocacy matters — because the voices of practitioners working directly with families are part of how policy gets shaped.

If your family has questions about what reassessments might mean for your OT supports, we are always happy to have that conversation.
